I think you should definitely ask your doctor about this. And make sure you are takin your iron supplements. I had my period the week after surgery and it was pretty heavy but it didn't last for 2 weeks. You poor thing.. ask your doc!

yes yes yes.....when in doubt check it out.....i am 2 years post op....It use to be heavy but now everything is fine.

I think that anytime your body goes thru something invasive it's normal for your periods to be off. I broke my legs in a car accident 5 years ago and had major surgery. I didn't have a period for 15 months. It takes time for your body to readjust....I wouldn't worry.
I had a very short period after my surgery (about 3 days), then the next month I had a normal period.
Don't get tooo worried, but I would explain to your Dr. that you have just had a major surgery.

Its totally normal to experience changes in your period after surgery. Estrogen is stored in your fat cells, and when you rapidly lose weight it dumps all that stored estrogen into your system. Which can cause longer and heavier periods, mood changes, etc. Should just be a temporary thing though. As your body starts to become more stable in your weight, after 6 months, then you should have pretty normal cycles. I know for me, I'm like clockwork now.

My cramps have increased so much since my surgery. I'm also having other female issues. I have another ultrasound in April to determine if I need surgery, and or the possibility of ovarian cancer. Right now I have 2 complex cysts on my right ovary, one is 1.3 cm and the other is 3.5 cm.
They were found because since surgery I have had a UTI, and can't shake the feelings that I still have one. I have lots of pelvic and bladder feeling pressure. Feel like I have to pee constantly, but then can't go or it's a tiny bit, and no relief from the feeling of having to go. I'm uncomfortable to very uncomfortable constantly.
After dealing with this for several months they decided I needed a pelvic, kidney, ovaries, uterus, bladder ultrasound and they found the cysts.
Complex cysts can, not saying it is become cancerous. They are considered complex because they aren't fluid filled, they can actually have bone, teeth, hair, etc. in them. I know gross, right? And they can become cancerous.
So in April I will get another ultrasound to see if they have shrunk, grown, whatever, and a determination will be made then. I'm a bit nervous because when I researched ovarian cancer........it sounds like everything that I've been going through, and that I have told everyone around me from the beginning. So for that I'm nervous, but good thoughts.
If it does turn out to be worst case scenario, wow GBS could have possibly saved my life.
Don't ever ignore what your body is telling you is wrong, even with my PLS, I knew something wasn't right......and it took several years for it to show it's ugly head, but I was right. My body told me something was wrong, and it was.

Let the doctor that watches over your blood work and labs know that this is happening. I did not tell my doc and I wound up extremely anemic from it. I had long and heavy periods that were only separated by two weeks and by the end of the second one I was in trouble. She got me back on track but scolded me for not letting her know sooner so she could get me in for labs sooner than my 3 month scheduled blood work. Take care of yourself.
