before and after you had your surgery did you make it public knowledge that you were having it done? Do people look at you strange when they find out you had it done? Do you feel unconformable around them do the treat you different? Sorry for the 20 question I just want to know if I am the only one that is going thru this? My mother is one of my biggest surporter but she is telling the world that I had this surgery done! I don't like it! Some people at work know that I had surgery and they look at me like i have a third neck. Is it just me?

I told and still tell anyone who will lsiten. There have been some negative comments about why I did it and why can't I just eat and exercise... I just explain that years of bad habits have damaged my stomach to the point where I need large amts of food to feel full and that the surgery helped me fix it so that I can eat normally again. Beleive it or not, that usually shuts them up pretty quick. Most people have been very supportive.

I am kinda going thru things like that now without even having the surgery. People are jealous, I think. I tell people I am having the surgery they try to talk me out of it, say I should just work out, I am not that big, I could a diet, how much it cost,... The stigma is still out there that surgery is the easy way out, but we know its not. Just chalk all the talk up as people are just ignorant. You did this for you. Doesn't matter how you lost the weight, there's always go na be some one try n to steal your joy. Don't let um. Much love.

I'm pre op with a surgery date for sleeve of June 11 but currently the only person I have told is my Mom and then I told my hair stylist cause I was asking her about biotin and hair loss and solutions to be proactive before it happen. I requested that my Mom not tell anyone else or the rest of my family and I trust her that she won't tell them. I just told them at work I had to have a surgery and needed to take 2 weeks off and then come back working a week of 1/2 days. I didn't say what type of surgery. I have thought about telling a good friend of mine but I think she would say I don't need to go that route cause one other time I had thought about the lap band surgery in Jan 2011 and mentioned it to her and she responded that way.
I haven't decided what I will do post op as the weight starts coming off more quickly. I have lost 36 pounds since Jan of this year but no one has said anything about it at work or else where?!?! Oh well!! I guess I will cross that bridge when it happens. I really feel it isn't anyone's business but if a person wants to tell people the had WLS that is that person choice.

At the begining I only told a few people, as I got closer to the surgery I was so excited I didn't care. I had a few people who were negative about it BUT now they are all glad to see me losing weight and feeling better!!!

Really this is a choice each person makes differently. It is kind of uncomfortable because it's admitting you have a problem. It's kind of theraputic though.
