Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
Hmm. Good post it really made me think.
I've been thinking about that recently in relation to my last stall. I've begun to tell myself that it's okay to let the weight go, that I no longer need it. I'm going to really work on permitting my body to become as small as it wants to be. I'm 5'4". My goal has been to hit the middle of the so-called "normal" range, but I agree with JJ. We all carry our weight differently, and we carry it differently than we did when we were 20. I want to give my body permission to find it's optimal health. I think part of that is mental--creating an emotional state where I permit myself to have more success than I ever have in the past.
Just because I have been dieting for 36 years and failing everytime doesn't mean that I will fail this time or that I have to settle for less than what is reasonably possible.
My surgeon did think 125 was a reasonable goal for me.
I just need to be fearless now I'm in the home stretch.
Thanks again guys for putting into words what I could not.
I know you can accomplish whatever you feel is in your heart. If it means reaching for that size 0 than by all means do it and please know that I will be here to support you.
As a fellow GBS'er and a certified "shorty" coming in at 5'2 (on a good day)...lol I can understand where all this is coming from. I personally do not think I can pull of the size 0 look. I would look anorexic or deathly ill (this was actually advised to me by my surgeon). I have always being proportionate, however, I do a bigger bone structure than most petite women. I would topple over in a size 0 as I am busty and do have a booty...lol (The more weight I lose the more defined it gets and it sticks out now- -not just wide...lol)
The number that sticks out to me is my BMI. Like JJ I don't believe there is a "normal weight". There are so many variances in our structure, BMI, among other factors that I personally feel is not right to categorize everyone in to a norm.
I am so impressed by you, your attitude, and I love that you are genuine to the core.
I have no doubt in my mind that you will and can achieve whatever you set your mind to.

Seriously...My friend who is a size zero...oh she may be a 2/4 now that she has had a few kids, always had as many problems finding clothes as I did as a fat chick. different size, same issue...sucks..
if I can ever see a size 14 I will be happy and satisfed.
I never, ever, ever expected to land at 145 and wear a size 4. I am 5'9. So with heels I am almost 6ft. NEVER. EVER.
It took me a year to realize and accept the size I landed at. This is where my body wants to be. No more. No less.
My advice (for what it's worth) exceed the expectations if you relax and allow. If you make the crazy high standard your goal you will break yourself getting there.
good luck in your journey
