Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
Good luck to you and your goal though. You can do it.
My only goal has been health. 0 does not sound like health for me, but who knows, it might be for some.
However (maybe it's just me) but I never thought I would meet goal or even smaller.
This might be a short person topic but it can be an issue.
I want to be within normal weight if for nothing else but to get health insurance.
I wish I was 5'7, then I would be normal.
I am very petite so I need to be xtra small to meet goals.
I am almost a year out so I am concerned that I will never meet 128 , normal weight for a 4' 11" person
What would I do if I were ever smaller than I have been in my life.
Sorry but what if I were normal weight?
Like I said, for some that might be health and I think that could be reasonable. The one thing I have learned on this trip is that the rate, speed and amount of loss is all individual.
I have a great amount of extra skin ( weight) to be resolved.
I could be wittled down considerably.
Perhaps for me it may be a smaller number but now I am referrring to dreams ( ONLY IF THEY ARE REALISTIC) Hope
I cannot even begin to think that I may end up at 160 ish lbs....But that is what I was when I fell pregnant with my daughter..(I thought I was fat at that weight...lol) I am a large heavy frame big hands and feet..
My surgery is about being healthier and living longer..BUT is is also so much about being slimmer and clothes and confidence,Sexiness... etc etc..
By the way Congratulations on your fantastic achievement...keep up the good work..I believe with your tiny frame..you have a very good chance of being a petite little thing...(I alway's wanted to be petite)

Shes like 4'10 lol Super cute, love her to death and shes totally healthy. I dont think my structure would let me ever be that tiny. Maybe an 8 :) ""Fingers crossed"" :)
a man got locked in a train car that is a freezer, he yelled and yelled and no one heard him.. he began to get really cold teeth chattering.. the whole bit. morning came, the door opened and they found him dead. The thing is that that freezer has been broken for several months... he froze to death because he trulY believed he was in a working freezer. Moral of the story is... we can do what ever we think we can.., good or bad. So Hope... you wanna be a zero... lets all believe that you can :D as for me. I will get down to 160 yay
I firmly believe the concept of normal weight is complete nonsense. Everyone carries weight differently. Even then, your ideal weight at 19 is not the same as it should be at 45. Last week I talked with a friend who is also just under 5 ft. We discovered my waist and hip measurements are smaller than hers, even though she weighs 18 lbs less than I do. It kind of upset her, but we just carry our weight differently.
As obese people, we had to have a lot of muscle just to move that mass through life. I believe we continue to carry extra muscle even after we lose the weight.
Throughout high school, I weighed 120-125 and wore size 7-9. My measurements back then were 36-26-26. Not bad, eh? However, the height/weight charts said I should weigh 100 lbs, so I saw myself as fat and crash-dieted myself to obesity. For the past 12 years, Ive wished I could have simply maintained my HS weight (or even my college weight of 160, for that matter)!!
My heaviest was probably just over 300 lbs. When I saw the nutritionist before my surgery, she set my goal weight at 125. My surgeon predicted I would get down to 160. At that point, I think I would have been happy to be under 200
I still cant completely zip my wedding dress, although I weigh 15 lbs less than I did when I got married. My rib cage is just too large, now. I dont believe even plastic surgery can change that. My body proportions arent what they were in HS (bust and waist are bigger and my hips are smaller). I wonder if they would have changed this much had I not become obese. Much to my surprise, my plastic surgery didn't take off much weight (5 lbs, max). Although I still have a couple surgeries to go, I doubt they will remove more than another 5 lbs in total.
I look at my legs and still see them as fat, even though there is no way they can be if Im wearing size 2s, right? There is still a part of me that would love to weigh less than 120but I know my body image is screwed up and I have to rely on others for objectivity. Ive been advised by a close, honest friend to make sure I dont lose any moreIm at the point where any more weight loss will age my face.
Today I go for my 1 year check up with the surgeon. I wonder what they will say.
Please focus on being healthy, not on the number on a scale. Follow the program and your body will settle into the weight that is right for you.
and anything is better than where we started, right?

I guess it was taken the wrong way.
I do realize that especially as we age our bones, muscles change and being supper tiny isn't the great thing it was in high school as at 51 I would probably look quite haggard.
I think JJ has said it better than I.
As a fellow tiny person I am amazed at her success.
I envy JJ as she made it to my dream in a year.
I kick myself because I know I could have done better.
I just wonder if I could even wrap my mind around wearing a size 2-4 ? Perhaps that has something to do with the reason that l am not there like JJ.
As fo weighing more and being smaller and your friend being pissed... I have the very same situation.
I am much smaller than a friend who had this surgery and yet we weigh the same. I am an 8-10 and she is a 12-14. It makes me very self concious as she scrutinizes me, my clothing, what I eat and my continued weight loss. She decided to stop and maintain, because I am short I decided to go on.
I guess the header for my post should have been "what if you were truely slim beyond your wildest expectations"
How would you feel? and do you think you could handle it.
I think in some sense some of us are still holding back because we fear being that size for a number of reasons that we really should examine.
Like why do I still sabotage myself as I know I could have done better.
Thanks to everyone who took the time to try to understand where I was coming from with this one.
I love you guys, Hope
