tummy hurts

I have been having tummy pain for 3 days now. It all started when I made a protein shake. I used Whey protein and 1% milk with 1 Tab. of Peanut butter. I tried one yesterday and could not get it down. All day I hurt. Last night I thought something was very wrong. I feel a little better this morning but I am only getting 10gms of protein in a day. Any suggestions?

Do you usually eat the peanut butter? Sometimes the peanut butter will bother me , always has and never stopped.

are you using whey isolate protein?? i would avoid the peanut butter. It could be that you are lactose intolerant that can happen after this type of surgery. Try some soy milk or almond milk or something other than milk from a cow.

Ihad the same thing happen when I added peanut butter to myb shake. I think maybe it's to thick for our tummys. I can eat a spoon of peanut butter out of the jar but not in a shake.

I cant eat pb in any form not even almond butter. also eggs and honey even a tiny drop make me very ill.

if this does not get better call your surgeon. if it gets really bad before the office opens go to the er. if you dehydrate from not geting enough in fluid wise it will make it 100 x worse.

When I would eat something that sat wrong in my tummy I would eat a few papaya enzymes and that would actually help. You can get them at a whole foods type store or some drug stores have them. The ones I have tried are peppermint or tropical fruit. You just chew them up and they help you digest the food better. It really helped me. However, it you feel it is something wrong, never hesitate to call your dr. It is there job to help you and make sure all is well. I used to call mine with all kinds of questions. Usually the nurse would have to call me back to answer the question and things would resolve naturally, but since this was all new to me, I wanted to get an expert to help me. I also have to tell you that when I was a newbie, things that sat well one day would be totally horrible the next. It took several months post op for foods etc. to sit ok in the tummy, but I still had days that were tough. Even at a year post op, I have times where I know that something did not sit right and I have to lie down or rest for a while until it passes. Be patient with yourself, but always take pain seriously and double check with the dr if needed. Best of luck with all.
