for me, there is a woman that calls me skinny everytime I see her and quite loudly.....it is embarrassing and I don't know how to stop it.. I am not close to her, she is in a different department and while I know she means well.......VERY awkward with other people around.. I still have like 80lbs to go, so I am by NO means skinny-- have not even hit onderland yet.......so I totally get that.........she wants this surgery herself... so I really know she means well...........UGH.........so far I haven't hit that tipping point.. only peopel that know me well say anything and I am constantly walking on the treadmill at work and through the building so I know people are noticing but not yet saying.......
its awkward and nice all at the same time though.. right?
Enjoy being the new person you are. This is part of your "lifestyle change!"
Take it all as a compliment, whenever, wherever, and however it is delivered. Remember where you started.
I will only feel bad when someone says, "Have you regained some weight?"
I've been with the same agency for over 20 years and I'm a trainer so I see everyone every year or almost that often. I've only found support and cheering from the people I work with. I did have one fella say something like I was so beautiful now, and I arched an eyebrow (think Spock) at him and said I was beautiful before too. He had the grace to be embarassed and we're still friends. He just was speaking before thinking. I don't have the issue of the office 'hottie' since I'm an old married lady, but I can relate when my daughter nudges me and tells me someone is hitting on me, because I just don't recognize it.
You're not crazy, everyone has their own way of thinking of themselves. If it embarasses you, maybe a reply of 'And I feel wonderful too' would work for you, emphasizing your health instead of your weight.
You are doing awesome and deserve all the compliments you can handle!
Hugs! Patricia
For me it was a comment made at a party. I was told to go eat a burger, LMAO!! I loved it, never been told that before in the content that I was wasting away to nothing, lol..
