Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. This is probably going to come out all hodge podge... but I am going to try and put into words what's been rolling around in my head! Scary plan, I know! :)
For the preops, or those who want to dig into the past... Do you feel at times like you are not fat? And then catch sight of yourself in a mirror?
Then at other times feel like people do not see you for who you really are because the fat gets in the way?
Do you ever feel like you are who you are regardless of the fat? Then turn around and feel like you are not who you could/would be because of the fat?
I know... tons of contradictions going on here... but it's going round and round in my head!
I think all of this comes to the surface because I have been trying to dig thru the muck in my brain and "find myself" so to speak.
Tomorrow is my initial appointment at a counselors who came recommended by my NUT. Which is good... yet seems funny to me because I am a psy major and am probably gonna drive THEM nuts! LOL!

I definitely had fat blinders on - I really didn't know how obese I was until I saw a photo of myself. (I have one of those magic mirrors that make you look 50 lbs lighter - NOT) As long as I was dressed to the nines, I really didn't notice it, but every now and again I would force myself to look at a side shot of me and then I was always amazed at how fat I truly had become.
Now the opposite is happening - friends and family are noticing the weight loss big time and yet I don't see it at all...
