I feel ok despite not eating anything. I'm now 4 days out. My stomach feels fine except for this one sore sore spot on my upper left stomach- right near my ribs. Coughing, sitting up, walking is all excruciating. Is that normal? The more I walk, the more it hurts.

Think it's just muscular hon. I've got some pain to when getting up, ect. Each day is getting better though, right? Hang in there, this will be worth it!

That's what I'm concerned about because this pain, if anything, is getting worse.

Any pain that is getting worse instead of improving should be discussed with your surgeon. Its better to be safe. I hope you feel better soon.

I described this pain as having Chucky stand in front of me and repeatedly stabbing me in the incision with a knife. lol. You should be just about done with it now. My doc said that is where he put in the stapler and did a lot of pushing and pulling so I was kind of right. What happened to me was all of a sudden, the nerves there died and I had only discomfort. No more pain. Hope yours goes away quickly. Hang in there.

Yes it is. I went through this and went to the ER. Your lung is hitting your old stomach when you breathe. It hurts like a b, but it won't harm you. Make sure you take in deep breaths to open your lungs fully (despite the pain) to prevent pneumonia. If it's not happening when you're breathing, it may be something else, and worth going and getting a CT scan. Feel better!

yes, it's normal on that side due to the surgeons doing most of their work from that incision.
i had bad pain also, about a week post op, thinking i had caused a hernia by doing too much. The doc said it's normal and will pass.
Take it easy though, but continue to walk to prevent clots.

2 yrs out and I still have a funny "carch", not really pain. I think my bottom rib is hurt sometimes !! (but its not :) ) Sometimes it 's aliitle worse if I'm sorta gassey (after something to sweet- even just a bite or two).. I do great, besides this. I havent had a Coke in 2 years...Coffee is my problem. I love it,but it doesnt love me !!!! Eat slow I know, I know- blah blah blah.... slower and smaller amounts. You will learn..... God bless ya !!!!!

oops sorry, I just realized you are 4 days out. Girl, you've been rewired. Thats normal. Go lie down and relax !!! I do think there was alot of stitches in that one area......
