My doctor suggested using a compression garment which I normally wear anyway. I'm 4 days out from VSG surgery (May 22nd) and I was a little concerned that it might hurt to put the compression tank on, but it actually helps take the pressure off the abdomen and the pulling on the incision site - I think I can wait on my pain meds till bedtime now ;o)

sorry but i don't know what VSG is Please.. All i can think of is vascular surgery.

Sorry Tornadoladi - VSG stands for Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy - alot of people call it the "sleeve". This surgery takes out a large portion of your stomach but leaves a "banana shaped stomach intact - no rerouting of the plumbing.

I'm a health care student, so I sometimes fall into using acronyms and forget that some people don't understand them.

Welcome to the bench! I could have used that better probably than the "belt" type of binder I had. I HATED that thing and did not use after 2-3 days. :) Di

I've never even heard of them. Are there not recovery reasons to wear them?

I have worn the "Control It" brand tanks from Kohls for the past 4 years because I had an experimental weight-loss device implanted and it helped to have that extra support - needless to say that the experiment didn't work as far as the device so I decided to have it taken out and more traditional proven method of weight loss surgery performed. I've had two surgeries since May 4th, and now two incisions on my left side along with about 12 laproscopic incisions which I'm sure are arranged to look like a constellation (just not sure which one) HA
