JJ posted the idea of people having a surgery buddy... I can tell you that I had Joy and LInda to text and bug during my hosp stay and more. It was the best thing (they were the best!!) to have someone who knows about this first hand (joy had just had surgery and Linda will be soon) to speak with... People who really 'get it'

So.... I think every so often, maybe once a month? Try and post a who's having surgery when and if they would like a buddy or not... Then one of us who's either had surgery or not, it does not matter!! Can contact them and they can exchange information.

I currently have 3 :) Linda of course.... And Angie as well as Meg, a friend from another site... all who will be having surgery in the coming weeks-ish....

If you have surgery coming up (even if you don't have a date, but you know it won;t be long...) post it (and the date if you do have it) along with if you want a buddy you can text or call while in the hospital. Your buddy can report back to the DS group how you are doing as well as be a source of support!

Chocolate Amazon took me on as a buddy prior to my surgery here in the Bronx and has been a great source of inspiration for me so I would love to extend myself to someone who needs to be encouraged.

First of all, thanks for the initial idea JJ - this is great!
Next, MANY thanks Becca for offering to be a surgery buddy for me! Mine is August 5th.
Finally, I would be more than happy to be a surgery buddy for anyone else.
This is why I love this group! :)

I love this idea, my hubby is technologically impaired so asking him to update for me wouldn't work. With any luck my surgery will be in November or December. Still a long way off but if I can be of help to anyone else I'm all for it, my time will come :-)

Here's my thoughts....

If you want to be a buddy.... message someone who's looking for one... Hook up, exchange info and maybe even report back who is who-z so we will know everyone has one!!

I think I'll post another thread in a few days checking for others in case this one gets buried!

I would love to be there for anyone who needs a surgery buddy. Like Thepbourne said that is how the two of us hooked up and became good friend from there. So if anyone who is having surgery wants me to be their buddy just message me and we can exchange info. It is a great feeling being able to help others out.
