I also don't drink any fruit juices, too many calories, best to eat your calories rather than drink them.
My Doc suggests that when choosing foods yes look for low sugar content, but also foods that do not have sugar listed in the first 3 ingredients. (They have to list ingredients on the labels as to highest content first and so on)
There are a lot of sugar substitutes on the market, you will just have to try them to see if they will work with your body. I don't do well with Splenda. But I have had good luck with Nutra Sweet or Sweet N Low.
Also, Sugar Substitutes will make you gassy if you eat to much, its just the way they are made so if you are consuming too much that is when you can dump off of substitutes.
As for Juice its mostly sugar, I think Ocean Spay Diet only has 1g sugar so that should be ok, but in general juice is not very good for us after having WLS. Labels will be your best friend after surgery....Best Wishes
Splenda and stevia are good substitutes.
Yes, dairy has lactose. Anything ending in "ose" is a sugar. But lactose doesn't seem to cause dumping as much as other sugars like sucrose.
I only use a light yogurt, and now that I am on solid foods only on occasion...
I haven't used any artificial sweeteners so I can't offer any advise there... I am to afraid that if I start substituting I will want the real thing....
