Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
I have 7 small cars about 3/4 inch long.... I am tolerating almost anything I eat.. ( I have not tried anything with sugar, or fried, and I eat very few carbs... And NO white carbs)....
i tend to be moody, but I also went off my anti-depressant as soon as I had surgery, so that could be some of my mood swings....
I lost 20 pounds prior to surgery, but I had to remember, I had done that many times... I just couldn't keep it off... I would get to a point and go back to old habits... For me this surgery was a way to save my life...
I was lifeless, couldn't handle the heat, was depressed (even on anti-depressants), and my blood pressure was rising, my heart rate wouldn't slow down, my MS was flaring up, and I was having tremors...
My blood pressure is: 100/60, my heart rate averages 68, I haven't had an MS flare-up or tremor since surgery, and the week I spent in Florida was amazing (even though it was close to 95 degrees some days)....
I hope you are able to make the decision that is best for you... Remember: crossing the street is taking a risk, and may be more dangerous than surgery....
My surgery was super boring-routine too! I was so nervous that morning that tears leaked out of my eyes off and on the whole time in pre-op.
Got the good meds, kissed my honey, giggled with the OR team and woke up to a whole new life.
The most exciting thing in my recovery was the constipation I battled for a week and then having too much fun and excitement in Disney World made my Patty pouch/abs grumpy.
People LOVE to share the gory details and the scary stuff, because routine is boring and most everyone LOVES the drama.
I did my laps, took a shower the next day all by myself, sipped when I was supposed to, napped all the time, walked laps at home with the dog, and followed my doc's orders to a T.
Wednesday makes me 12 weeks post-op. I am down from a 24 to a 14 (regular NOT 14W!!!!!) and 62 lbs. This RNY surgery was a game changer and life re-inventor! NO REGRETS!
Blessings and Prayers!

11 months after my RNY I weighed 125 lbs. I have maintained within my target weight range ever since. I love my life. Id have surgery again every year if that is what it took to stay a healthy weight!
Worth it? Heck, yes!!

I did EVERYTHING my surgery told me to and I listened to a meditative CD for "Sucessful Surgery". Surgery went very well. I took 6 months off after surgery to get my routine down and allow myself to rest and recoup. I went to weekly gastric bypass support groups and continued my own counseling.
I have maintained my weight loss and work as a life coach to help others who want to make and sustain changes. I had 1 minor complication of scar tissue in my abdomen (3 years ago) but was dealt with very quickly and it was road bump not a detour.
I wish you good luck!
