Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
I just wanted to remind you how very strong you had to be to get to the point of having surgery. You can weather this and any other storm that comes along. And were all here to help eachother do just that. :) hand in there your solution will come soon.
Remember that there is a huge learning curve involved here too. The farther out you get, the more you know about what works for you and what doesn't. There are things that I am encouraged to have on my plan that are actually things I used to enjoy but right now I just can't eat them...fish is one of those things. When I have eaten it, even tiny bites, chewed well, yada yada yada, it comes back up. I have a limited menu but the things I eat are all "safe" and don't make me sick. It just took me a while to find them. I still find things that make me sick and I cross another new item off my list.
The first three months, I would not have recommended the surgery to anyone, I was struggling so much. Now, even though eating and drinking are still as hazardous as a minefield some days, I am still glad I did it.
I don't always get in all my fluids, I don't always get in all my protein, but I am not going to be forcefeeding myself in order to match some number in a book. I do what I can do and let the rest go. So far that is working all right for me and my bloodwork is good. And I am much more comfortable too. I still have the same goals, I still try, but when I don't manage my 64 ounces of water...oh, well. Tomorrow is another day!
So, yes, talk with your doc, and the dietician, but don't let the discouragement keep you down. You will find a way of eating that works for you and you will feel better.
