Then shrimp, crab, lobster, and more shrimp.... So very high in protein... I ate shrimp everyday for lunch for months....
I had no problems with eggs at all, so a ham and cheese omelet was a go to meal for me as well...
White chicken tends to give me issues, but dark meat does not... So my hubby made me a chicken burger that was a mix of white and dark meat with a package of onion soup mix in it... Oh my goodness that is awesome....
Beef is still hard for me as it has to be chewed way to much and kind of sits in my pouch...
I also liked doing different things with ground turkey... But found you really have to add spices to get some flavor....
I couldn't do chicken either at first, but the cottage cheese and yogurt (my fave is Light & Fit Greek or Fage with a teaspoon of SF jam) were great, and I kept up the protein with my 48g, 200-cal protein shakes. I ate some canned green beans and a tiny bit of overcooked broccoli once the pouch stopped being grumpy and those worked well. Like everyone else says, it's one new thing at a time, take a few nibbles and WAIT. Because you never know what might happen! If all is okay in 5 or 10 minutes, take another bite or two...and wait for those "soft cues" that you have had enough.
Start slowly. I started with Cottage cheese and added things one at a time. Chicken is still an issue for me. It is very dry and even if I have it in sauce it still seams to get stuck. Chewing is important. You will have things get stuck, and you will get sick often at first. I was sick almost everyday when I started solid foods. You just have to keep trying. I am sorry but it will not be easy (at least it wasn't for me). You also have to remember to eat slowly. My nut told me that if I have issues with a food to wait a week or so and try it again. It gets better everyday. I am at six months and I rarely have issues with food now. The only thing that makes me sick is things that are too sweet (even if they do not have sugar in them) and greasy foods. Just be patient, take your time, eat slowly, and enjoy.
Keys to eating meat: Meat should be moist. Lite sour cream or mao helps a lot! Take small bites and chew it to a liquid. If something in the bite doesn't chew to a liquid, spit it out!! Check your saliva after every bite. If it starts to thicken or you get any other signs your body has had enough, STOP!! 1 bite too many can leave you in pain for hours.
Phhht. You're gonna be a rock star.
