Stage 2 post op diet

I am 7 days post op and have been progressed to stage 2 diet. I do know there is a subgroup that has recipes for shakes etc but everything is so on the sweet side. I have been getting my protein from my shakes but am actually craving something more savory. Is broth basically my only shot at savory choices? I called my nut and left her a message because my diet plan for stage 2 is basically water to keep hydrated and then adding protein shakes to get protein.

I need a change up. I am crossing my fingers that when I have my 2 week follow up with my surgeon she will say it is okay to progress to soft foods.

I can't wait to get something of texture added in!

Doc gave okay to move to soft foods but I haven't been able to eat because of this smell thats going on with me right now, yeah call me crazy the kids have, lol. Good luck

I'm in my stage 2 diet and I've been eating scrambled eggs, refried beans with a tad of shredded cheese, mashed potatoes (idahoan buds in a single serve cup many flavors), sf pudding, some over baked fish to make it really soft, swanson canned chicken (put in blender with tid bit of pickle, season, tsp mayo blend til pureed and eat on a ritz cracker or by spoon)...There's lots of soft stuff you can have that have protein, just read labels and become close to your blender or magic bullet if you have one. good luck.

My stage 2 is pured and my surgeon advanced me at 10 days vs 2 weeks because I wasn't getting enough protein. I was straining cream soups 98% fat free and making with 4-8 oz of fat free milk if you can tolerate milk products. Would get around 5-8 g of protein and it goes down easily. Cream of chicken, cheddar cheese, cream of broccoli- strained ( and be careful this one can be gaseous). Campbell's makes a ton of ff or lf condensed soups if you'd craving savory. Milk added the protein and occasionally I added a scoop of unflavored protein powder .

I couldn't tolerate the protein shakes so I ha my daughter go through the soup isle and read to me (thank God for cell phones) the nutrition content of the fat free soups. I went with the high protein fat free and low calorie soups. Then I blended them. At that time they tasted savory and really helped me to feel better.

Unjury makes the chicken soup one, would that help? Could you use tomato juice and put unflavored protein mix in it and make a soup that way? How about a fat free ranch dip mix but mixed with the tomato juice or Unjury chicken soup mix? Or take the fat free ranch dip mix and mix with fat free greek yogurt if you are allowed plain yogurt?
Sorry I am pre op but these were some suggestions my nut mentioned to me for the pre op liquid diet phase and I would think might be ok post op but of course pass it through to your own nut or surgeon first.

Thank you all for your comments! I went and bought some soups today and plan on blending the heck out of them and then straining. I also shot my nut. an email seeing what she thinks about progressing me further!
