so nauseous

Anyone else have this as a symptom after surgery? I am post-op day 4 and was bragging about no nausea immediately after surgery because I always get so sick from anesthesia. But from day 2 til now I begged for zofran and have been keeping my fluid intake up but don't want to do anything but drink water. I refuse my pain meds because they make me want to hurl. I am worried because my husband was sick (24hour stomach flu) he thought, 2 days before surgery. Then when I came home last night he said my 2 kids had N/V too. My doctor said it was a normal side effect but when will it end? Or do I have their virus? Anyone else?

I am 9 days out and I am nauseated everyday, I am also taking zofran. I haven't been on pain meds since the day after surgery because they make it worse. I am more sick feeling in the morning and by afternoon feel more like myself.

Nausea is really common. In fact, my surgeon automatically prescribes an anti-nausea med to all his patients for post-op use. If you don't have a medication for nausea, give your doc a call. Don't suffer needlessly. :)

Oh yes, first day after surgery but I was prescribed an anti-nausea med that helped. Sip sip sip will help too!

And....I just made the call for some Zofran. Thanks farmgirl. It amazes me how different every WLS center is. My only script was for Lortab which I didn't fill.

It is normal. I felt horrible till I got Zofran from my WLS dr and then things started looking up. I took it for probably a month after my sleeve.
Just a reminder, feeling nauseated can be a sign of dehydration also. Dehydration is the #1 cause for people after WLS being readmitted to the hospital. I got dehydrated more than one time last summer and have to ge iv infusions on 8 or 9 seperate occassions. Not fun at all!
