I had surgery 4/22/2011. I feel better everyday however I am sleepy all the time. I am getting 8 hours of sleep every night. Did anyone else experience this and if so, does this go away over time?

Yes I find that even at 11 weeks I still have sleepy moments. Usually when I have worked around the house. For me I am doing more physically so I take it at more activity that I am not use to. Take a power nap and you'll feel like a new person with more energy. Very normal for most of us.

I am 9 days post op and am very active only taking a nap when I hit the wall from pushing too far.
You may need alittle more protien, I have even put a small splask of coffee in mine to give me a small boost in the morning.

I would say get Iron level's checked....

I've had to learn to take naps! Some days I've got tons of energy, on others, I nap. Just go with it. Eventually, I'm told, things even out.

The first 6 weeks were exhausting for me! I could nap most of the day. I just seem to be coming out of it now at about 7 weeks, I am starting to have energy! YAY! It will come.

You should feel sleepy, you just had major surgery. You will feel a lot better soon.

I didn't start getting sleepy till a couple of days ago and then it really hit me. I'm almost 1 month out from surgery. Have also been a little dizzy so I'm being really diligent to make sure I'm getting all my fluid, all my protein and all my vitamins like I supposed to.

It's normal. I am 8 weeks out and use my sunday's as my catch up and sleep day. I am at the gym and walking everyday so I need the rest. It does get better.

I think it just the healing process. If not check in w/ your doctor. Are you taking any B12 shots or tablets? Those help me a lot. I use to take B12 shots once a month, however now I take them every other month. I may go to the tablets soon.

You can also take B12 liquid under your tongue. You may need to check iron levels as well. I am sure things will get better.

Make sure you're taking your iron and B12.. I was anemic pre-op and it made me very lethargic a lot of the time. And you're not that far out of surgery, like some said, it's part of the healing process.. over time your energy levels will improve.

I am 4 weeks tomorrow and I feel the same way. I am working full time and sleeping 9 hrs/night, but I dont have the energy to exercise yet, I just run out of fuel!

My docs say it's completely normal. I go one day on, one day off and to be honest am a little scared about going back to work for those off days! Don't forget in addition to recovery - we're losing weight extremely quickly, which is hard on the body. Your muscles have to adjust, your center of gravity - everything! They tell me it gets better!

Yes the first few months are tiring. But you probably should have your blood levels checked, iron, B12 vitamin D all can affect your level of energy.

If your doc hasn't checked any of them. Please ask when and if he thinks you need to have them checked.

Sleep is normal needed for healing, especially if you are overdoing it. Listen to your body! Water for hydration, protein, iron and b12 are also helpful.
