Sleep study and feeling a little insecure

So, the oxygen company called me today and said that my doctor put an order in to have an overnight pulse ox test. Has anyone ever had this? I guess they are dropping of the pulse ox machine off tomorrow to explain what they are going to do.

Secondly, is it wrong that I feel a little disappointed in myself? I am about to hit my 6 months and I was hoping to have 100 pounds lost and I am at 86. I know it is a tremendous amount of weightloss but I feel a little sad. My doctor says I am doing ok so I suppose I shouldnt set unrealistic goals for myself.

I think I am a little set back because I am worried about my hernias. My eating is a little off due to my stomach hurting a lot when I eat. And my excersize is a bit less due to the pain. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My husband had to do the overnight test. It was no big deal. They drop off the meter and you tape it to your finger overnight and then they pick it up. I don't remember what we did with the box during the night. And WOW 86 lbs in 6 months! Congrats!!

My mom used to get them done every few month its super easy they have you tape a meter to your finger and press the power button. You have lost a lot of weight congrats i think your doing great!

You should be proud! 86 pounds is a lot! Don't be so hard on urself! I just did a sleep study Friday night n have to wait 2 weeks to c what dr gonna do! I wish u the best! X

Darling, you have got to trash your scale!! It really seems to rule your world. You did not gain you weight in 6 months, give it some time. Probablly if you loose the scale and just focus on eating right and excercising your body will release for you. The stress is harder on you than anything. 86 lbs is nothing to shake a stick at. That is a wonderful number. We all want to wake up in the morning and be at goal, but it takes time. You will get there.

Im the same way. My 6 months was on June 14 and I lost 80 pounds. Still have about 30-40 more to go. My surgeon told me this: That since I lost so quickly in the first 6 months, that the rest of the weight loss is going to come slower now. But it will come. Don't worry on that part. As for exercise, just do what you can. I haven't done any real exercise except for some light walking because of the bad pain I have in my hips an lower back. And the surgeon said to just try an do what I could. But don't push because if I overdo it, it wont do me any good. As for the pulse ox test.. maybe the doc just wants to say what your pulse ox is now during the night. As compared to what it was before. I never had to have that done cause the sleep apnea I had cleared up a few years ago somehow. But also remember.. just because the pounds aren't coming off, doesn't mean the inches and fat is not. Everyday ppl ask me if I lost more weight. The scale hasn't moved in 2 weeks but the clothing sizes have. Good luck.

I agree with everyone who posted prior to me. I also wanted to mention that people who are heavier lose weight more quickly than those who start out less. Everyone is different, and you'll make it! I can only hope I lose 86 lbs in 6 months! That's totally awesome! Be proud of your accomplishment. I'm sure you are breathing easier and getting around much easier without the extra baggage.

86 pounds is a lot! Just pick up 86 pounds and pack it arounbd a while!

I have had sleep studies a few times. They are easy. You just sleep. Mine had a lotas wires glued to me and I had hair the 1st time. It was a mess to clean off is all. Maybe the more modern version isn't so messy. Love my CPAP! I can sleep without it now but elect to keep using it. It's like a security blanket.

I know, I am never satisfied with my loss either. It's the competitive nature. If someone else makes a B I gotta have an A! Somehow competeing with yourself to reach a certain goal is kinda the same.
