I used to have to use one. Keep using it and with time you will most likely get used to it. It got to where when I put on the mask, my body knew to go to sleep. Good Luck!

I wear one and it took time to get use to it. Now I won't even nap without it! Hang in there, you can always try different kinds of masks to find the one you can tolerate. Don't give up, it will come in time. And they do a compliance check before wls!

I use the nasal pillows instead of the mask because I find it much less intrusive! I couldn't stand the mask... I sleep so easily with those. Have you tried them?

I had the same experience the first night. I took a dose of Benadryl the next two nights and had no issues since then. Now if I fall asleep without my machine for some reason I wake up with a terrible headache, and I realized how much less sleep time I need to feel well rested.

Before long you will get used to it and won't be able to sleep without it. I needed mine a long time before I got it. It took nearly no break in time.
Does yours have the ramp up feature that lets you start out at a lower pressure and gives you a few minutes to get to sleep before it runs full throttle? I use that sometimes.
It's now my security blanket. I don't need it anymore but still use it, I'm hooked on it. Like someone else said, when I put my mask on the body knows it is time to go to sleep.

I was the same way!! I hated it, didn't want to use it, and didn't for a while.

Then I did, once I got a mask that fit better. I have a bi pap, so my mask goes over my nose AND mouth.

I sleep much better, have bee n told I don't snore when I have it on, and don't breathe "funny" anymore!

I know it's helping me. My problem is staying asleep...insomnia is stil lthere, but my breathing and falling asleep is a breeze with my machine.

I was suppose to use a bi-pap machine. Where c-pap has continued air pushing in my has air in then out. It was awful. My breathing was slower when I sleep so the folw of air from the machine would slow to. I'd wake up sufficating. I've neve been able to use it more than 2 hrs a night. Good luck with yours. debby

I did try the nasal pillows and couldn't sleep with anything in my nose! Since I wrote this, I got 2 full night of slew keeping the mask on and I feel better when I can manage to keep it on. All the other nights though, I still continue to take it off.
