Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
Yes gastric bypass will help resolve sleep apnea in most cases, but you have to lose a lot of the wieght first. I'm down 93 lbs and my symptoms are much improved, I hope to have another sleep study in a few months to see how my condition has changed. Good luck to you!
I did receive the maching and used it faithfully. I then talked to my sister and she had been diagnosed with sleep apnea and didn't have insurance to get the machine. The doctor told her to sleep on her side and see what happened. She did and did not have any problems any more. I tried this after surgery and it has worked for me. No more sleeping on my back....
I can't say this will work for everyone, I just tried it and it worked...talk to your doctor before discontinuing anything.
The bipap made a huge difference in my life. So please give it a try.
I too was chronically exhausted, but never thought of apnea until my doctor suggested I be tested.
But before this, I would fall asleep anywhere and everywhere. Well, my husband and I had paid big bucks to see Queen's "We Will Rock You" concert in Toronto (a few hr drive for us) a few years ago. We had 9th row seats, and the music was amazing and blaring. And I fell sound asleep - snoring and everything!!
Thank God for the study, my subsequent diagnosis of severe apnea, and my trusty machine!!
I wish I had a do over on the concert!!!
I do plan to be retested once I have lost enough wt. that my neck and chest etc. aren't so fat that they contribute to the problem.
I hope that you too learn to love your machine and the life this gives you back!!
