I don't know if my temper is worse then normal. I know I am more emotional then before. I do think though that it could be because my body is trying so hard to adjust to these drastic fast changes my emotions can't always be controled as well as before. I think it will ballance out as my people learn they are dealing with a different not so easily controlled person anymore, and I learn to take control of what I will and wont accept from other people in my life. Deep breaths help when i get frustrated with stupidity :) I hope this helps :)

Both myself and my husband have time through this. It will pass, but it takes work and time.

I can sympathize. I too find that I get irritated easier, but I also find that it is harder to control once I do. With a lot of patience on the part of my family, they try to carefully let me know when I seem a little edgy and I work hard on controlling it. It isn't easy, takes a lot of energy, and sometimes I feel like screaming, but I find that if I get busy and start thinking about all the good things I have it helps. I also have the luxury of post-op counseling for the next 6 months. Needless to say that helps.
Be patient with yourself. This will take some time to adjust. But like all things, it will only get better. Good luck and congrats on the weight loss!!

Thank you all so much for sharing your experience. During the weekend i thought i was going beserk with a minutest of things thankfully i have grown up girls so are quite underdtanding....but man i feel that this maybe more difficult to handle than the food lol:-) I will be reminding myself that anger is self destruction and hopefully will try and remain clam.

I hae gotten down right mean, and ir started around 4 months out. For me it's like my worst case of PMS that won't go away. I have zero patience with anyone or anything and so hot tempered. I was told that it is a dramatic hormone adjustment from the rapid weight loss and the hormones that we store in fat cells. I have been this way for about 2 and 1/2 months now and can't wait for this faze to be over (my family can't wait!).

GRRRRRRR All this and I haven't had the surgery yet... Oh Dear... All jokes aside... I'm so glad you wrote this... I know I'm going to have to work on as someone said... taking deep breaths... and other self control mechanisms... I also will be having counseling to help me and from all I read its going to be needed... Well now you know... You are soooo not alone... Oh... a smile... This was on Facebook this morning...

I am going through this same thing right now. It's been going on for a couple of weeks now. I'm not sure if my patience is shortened or if I have more confidence to speak my mind when things annoy me. I truly think that I have more confidence to say what's on my mind now because before...I would have just blended into the woodwork and kept my feelings to myself.

In my case i feel that there is a loss or energy generally, so I tend to conserve whatever I have left and its the extra push where i feel that I need to clarify things gets me going. When I was 158kg( 348ilb) i had loads of energy and could talk all day long having reduced this to 117kg (257 ilbs) in 4 months sudddenly my body likes to automatically not spend the energy.Physical excercise are fine. Maybe needs adjustment of the hormones .

My feeling is that it is both emotional and physical brought on by rapid weight loss and the hormonal changes relating to it. I have and am experiencing temperment changes and being post menopausal I can only imagine what you younger woman are going through. Having recognized this change I try to tamp down my responses and give a little slack to those around me. Sometimes more successfully that others. LOL. d

I thought this was menapause sp? at first due to having to stop the hormones a month post op. I was thinking today though this entire process is so stressfull who wouldn't have a short temper at some point? Preop we worry that they wont aprove us or something will stop the surgery or it wont work....day of surgery you wonder if its will go well, will they be able to do it with the scope or will i wake up all cut open, will it hurt really really bad (for me it didnt hurt much at all) then post op its what can I eat, am i eating enough to much? Will I need to buy new summer cloths, will i loose more weight.....omg I gave myselve an overload with just typing this hot flash city to boot! :) The good news is we all get stronger as we heal and shirnk.

My first two weeks out I was a troll to my husband. I found myself apologizing to him so much because one minute I was fine and the next I was screaming at him like a maniac!

The last 3 weeks (I'm 5 weeks out), I've been pretty even tempered and calm. Thank goodness! I really felt badly for jumping on him so many times. He said he understood and things are okay.
