There are always lots of discussions and questions here about hair loss. I am 4 1/2 months post op and dealing with this too. I decided to try a "generic" product that Sally;s Beauty Supplies shops if you have them near you. It's called Nutri-Ox. Suppose to be like Nioxin we hear so much about.
Shampoo has a minty smell. Conditioner is more a balsam smell. I do like how light it leave my hair...smooth, silky and shiny. It comes in both a color treated and non-color treated formula, and since I dye my hair, I am using the color treated version.
What I can not say just yet it it's made a huge difference, but I've only used it a few times. I do think I'm "shedding" less, day to day, but still found a handful of hair in the drain after the shower, no matter how gently I massage, vs scrub, my hair/scalp. Sigh.
One suggestion my hair dresser gave me that I'm trying, is not to wash your hair as often as maybe you did before. I did every other day. I have very dry hair, always have, and always noticed it seems to look it's best the day I wash it. So, I can actually go several days and I think that helps some too. Less friction with the hair washing. Anyone else hear that idea?
It does also seem to leave my hair looking full...without being weighted down or flat. So might give it a try. You can get a small bottle...probably good for 6 or 8 washes in a set with a 3rd item you leave in after washing and rinsing, for about $15. Might be worth checking out.

Yep..I use nioxin and I used to wash my hair everyday, now it's about every 3 or 4 days. My hair is coming back and actually likes the new routine better. It actually looks better the 2nd day after washing anyway, not so fly away. I don't know if it is the shampoo or just time that is letting it grow back but I like it whatever it is!

That's exactly what I am using, the Nutri-ox system from Sallys. I got it for $16.99 and the lady told me that if I didn't like it, just return the empty bottles for a full refund. I too like the smell of the product and the treatment has a pleasant tingle. I've only been using it for about a week. I had naturally thick and curly hair to die for, and I was already in the habit of washing only 3-4 times a week just because of how my hair was. I haven't noticed less fallout yet, but if I'm at the end of the bottle with no real improvement, I'm getting my money back and gonna try something eles.

I also got the Nutri Ox (for regular hair, I didnt know the color treated version was for thinning hair also) I havent noticed losing too much hair yet, I am only 3 weeks post op, but I started to use the shampoo to hopefully prevent it from getting too bad. I am going to get the color treated version next if it is the same. I guess I will know how effective once I get to 3 or 4 months :-)

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
