I remember around my 70lbs loss mark my whole family went to a water park. My mom asked me what I felt when I saw overweight people. I told her that I wished if they wanted the surgery that they could have it, knowing I wouldn't have had it if not for insurance.

Congrats on the nsv! Wait until people tell you you're skinny!

I do not find that Selfish at all. It is a realization of your hard work and knowing your new status, and where you will never be again.
I too wish more people can find the strength to beat the beast as well in what ever fashion works for them it is not an easy life.

Congrats! I totally can relate to what you are saying. Just recently I too was attending a potluck, my plate had about 4 tablespoons of food on it, when I looked up across the table and noticed a rather large lady and her plate so heaped with food that I just couldn't help but feel sorry for her. As I watched her devourer that plate plus another one, I wanted to talk to her so badly about losing weight, but felt it wasn't my place to mention it. I do hope, like you, that this person will someday deal with her demons.

I also think this is what I probably looked like to others just a year ago!

not selfish at all...it will get easier as time goes to the point you wont give it a sceond thought...i yeap..i see people that are obese and see what and the amount that they eat..

and feel like i need to tell them about my journey...but these days there is so much advertising etc about WLS options that i feel they know where to get help if they can.

That is a great NSV. I agree Sweden, sometimes you just want to shout out to everyone what a life changing experience this surgery has been and I'm still early into it. I tell anyone who wants to listen.

I know I still have a L O N G ways to go.... but already I am starting to feel like i stand out less in a group of people, and I am ever so thankful for it!

I totally understand, even though I am still in the upper end of the range still. But I have an facebook friend who totally wants WLS but would have to wait two years because she is on Medicaid, a social services type of insurance.
But I too see those others that heap their plates and come back for seconds. I am not quiet about my choice to have WLS and all the info I have learned in the process of preparing for surgery. I share it with anyone who will listen that I think will benefit. Especial to those I know who have very limited mobility and where losing weight is almost an impossibility. I tell them, yes, there is a way, there is hope out there.

I think that is an awesome NSV... I look at overweight people and almost always say "thank you God for the opportunity to change me life, and if it is your will, please educate that person or let them find a way to have the surgery." I also ask that I never forget where I came from, or take it for granted, and I ask that HE always guides me to continue to maintain my new lifestyle....
I have a lot of empathy for anyone who struggles with being overweight... It is not an easy way to live...
