...A couple weeks ago I had to go to church early in the morning I thought I would be able to come home and get some protein supplies, well I was so busy I didn't have time before I knew it, it was 4:00, we were finally walking in the door, I sat down, I didn't realize I was shaking, felt like I had drank 12 cups of coffee, sweating to death, I immediatly ate a protein bar, while I mixed up a shake too as soon as I finished the shake, it took a while because I had to sip it, and I was a little on the full side after the protein bar. I felt better. My Doc yelled at me, so I agree with what Bigred2000 said you have to get food in on a regular schedule or your blood sugar will drop too low, and you need a form a protein at each meal to stay stable through the day.
Now I try to keep at least 1 bar of protein, some nuts, beef or turkey jerky, and a baggie of protein powder in my purse, you never know where your going to be.
Anyway take care Susan, and best wishes
I hope you don't lose your licensce, and I hope you dno't have any more episodes...
I have an alcoholic drink every now and then. But not more than one, and always with some good protein in my system. I haven't had a hypoglycemic episode after alcohol.
I also have to be careful about activity. Even cleaning my house can bring on a hypoglycemic episode if I am not careful. I usually have a protein shake handy and sip it during any kind of activity. I take it hiking, shopping, etc.
It's best to be prepared. :)
