I've been slacking on my exercise some lately and decided to get back in the saddle again today.. Not that I haven't been exercising at all, but I'd go to the gym planning on doing a 30 minute run and then stop after 20 mins, things like that. My heart just hasn't been full in it lately but I still make myself do it.
So anyway, I went to the gym this morning planning to do a 5 min walking warmup, then run for 10 mins, then 5 mins walking and quit.. but when I got to the 10 minute mark I told myself to keep going to see how long I could make it. I remembered what Brett said in a post about running not too long ago, about finding your pace and getting your breathing right, and I refocused and found my stride, just enough to where I didn't have to breathe through my mouth, and I kept going. I ended up stopping after 17 mins, then doing a 5 min cool down. Next time i'm going to shoot for 20 mins, then 25, then 30, etc.
While I was in my zone I felt really proud of myself and all that I've accomplished. Never in my life did I think I'd be running 17-20 SECONDS, much less minutes - so that's something huge for me. I thought about Patty, Josie, Wittch, Jenny, and all the other folks here who are in the same boat I am and I'm so proud of all of us. We're doing things we never dreamed we would, so congrats to everyone, and keep up the good work!
Y'all think about that stuff next time you're running, it's great motivation to stay in that running frame of mine and keep going! It helped me a lot, so thank you guys!!

Wittch, that's only the 2nd time I've run nearly that long, the closest I got before that is 10.. I think we just need to realize that we're stronger than we think we are and get in the right mindset to do it. We'll be running that 5k straight in no-time!
