Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
Before surgery I had shortness of breath and they called it Bronchitis. I had an inhaler. Since surgery I have not needed the inhaler. I am thinkin it was just the extra weight.
I was told to take it easy for 6-8 weeks after surgery, to allow my body to focus it's energies on healing. That doesn't mean don't walk, it means don't walk so fast you're out of breath, or so far you get weak in the knees. Take this time to slow down a little, catch up on some reading or crafting, enjoy the blessings of autumn, and later on, when the inside is healed and stronger, you'll have the foundation to work on your new you. Pushing yourself, a little more, in a few weeks, and a little more than that in a month, will be appropriate and healthy. Pushing yourself right now may delay healing and cause problems. Your body's been through a major trauma, give it a little time.
Take care.
I had my follow up with pulmonologist today and he said I'm good and that I shouldn't push myself
Which is hard, but I'm going to give it a shot!
Thanks for the advice :)
Definitely give your body more time to heal.
Being lightheaded can be a sign of dehydration. Be sure to get plenty of liquids in.
