I was just wondering how this works how many people have had the WLS an are on Medicare an how does it go? I just got aproved for medicare in November an I am getting back into going to the drs anmy dr is working with me in trying to get the surgery an I have a seminar that I can go to March 6th. an was just wondering how it works. I hope I explained it ok. thanks for reading.

I think Medicare pays for only 80% of any medical care, it depends if your surgeon will except Medicare as full payment.
I am not sure about surgery though, my surgeons office did all of that for me, but I also have secondary insurance.
I'm sure that the doctor's office will let you know if there will be a balance after Medicare, I would ask them.........

Yes thank you for the advice. I know I will get all the info I need when the time comes just trying to get ahead of myself. I have a AARP also.

I have Medicare and they do not have a waiting period or make you wait 6 months or do the diet monitoring for 6 months. As long as your BMI is over 35 and you have diabetes, hypertension. joint problems. If your BMI is over 41 then you don't need the other modalities. Some Dr's makes you go thru all this preop stuff but it is their requirement not Medicares. I saw my Dr. Nov, 14th, met with the nutritionist that day too and had surg Dec.9th. My Dr is pretty awesome. Medicare and my supplement paid all my bills
