Does anyone know about people after weight loss surgery being given a card of proof of surgery. I do think this a good idea for a couple of reasons one to show in restaurant and other food places, as I would like to order a childs portion etc. Secondly it could help to prove the date it was performed ( the op ) and explain medication we are on.

I had printed a card from online (http://www.gastricbypassfamily.com/RestaurantCards.html), then when I asked my surgeon to sign it, he pulled out their standard card, wrote in my name and signed and stamped it. I don't know if I'll ever use it, but I've got it just in case!

Also, I ordered a medical bracelet and had the following info engraved on it:
I chose to put my last name on the front side, then my first and middle initial on the back on line 1.
Line 2 was: GBS RNY
Line 3 was: No Blind NG Tube
Line 4 was: No NSAIDS/No Sugars
Just Google something like "medical ID bracelet" and you'll be amazed at what all comes up for you. Most companies give you 3 or 4 lines of engraving "free"... Different websites suggested using physician's or other ICE numbers (in case of emergency -- you know, the ones we ALL have in our cell phones, right, my friends? ), but I figured numbers change too quickly and engraving is permanent! Besides, if I'm bad enough off that I can't tell you who to call, then just get me to a medical facility and we'll deal with it later!!! Plus, I figure I ALWAYS have a piece of ID on me when I leave the house, so I should be okay when it comes to finding a relative.

It's great that you're doing so much to prepare for your upcoming surgery! You've done great losing the weight you've lost already, and with all this prep, you're going to have a fantastic journey ahead! Good luck!

My surgeon gave me a card, but I have only used it once, for the reason that most kid's menu choices are not very healthy. I did find that Cheddars has a grilled chicken breast with steamed veggies on their kids menu, but it was still too much for me to eat at one meal. I have shared a meal with my husband, or usually order from the regular menu, then take the remainder home for the next day, or next meal. It is hard to fight the temptation of "picking" at it until the next meal, but I seem to be doing it okay.
