Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
I had a problem with the shakes after surgery as well. It's unfortunate that our tastes change.
The only thing you can try to do is to try different shakes until you find one that is tolerable. I speak from experience on this. The shakes I loved prior to surgery I couldn't stand afterward. I got so weak from not having any protein that it was horrible.
Just keep trying!!

You can also buy unflavoured protein powder and add it to soup or V8.
There are also some cool aid type protein shots out there that some people like. They are easy to dilute. Personally, I found that drinking protein drinks as cold as possible helps. Also, I did best when I drank hot, herbal tea first thing in the morning to gently wake my pouch before I took my vitamins or tried to drink my protein drink.
At one month, you may be allowed to swallow your vitamins whole (I was so glad when I got to stop the chewables).
