I have not had surgery yet but I am taking vitamins, making the recipes off www.bariatriceating.com for dinner and drinking shakes for extra protein.
I am very interested in probiotics.
I started today.
The box states 1 tab TID (3). By the second tab I had the runs so bad I had to take something to counteract the problem.
Since probiotics deal with digestion I am wondering if this could be the problem?

Sounds like you should talk to your doctor before doing something you may not need to be doing which could make you sick. Just because you can get it over-the-counter doesn't mean it's safe for you. Best of luck as you look forward to your surgery, but be sure to follow your doctor's advice.

Most those diet pill that helps with your digestion even if all natural are to clean you out . I bought activia yogurt cause it was on sale ate it one morning and it cleaned my colon out sat on toilet all morning. If you have questions phamacist will help you too if you can't get talk to dr or nutrionist.. good luck

Callie had some interesting facts about probiotics and in fact was the reason I started taking them. Her data included info that GBS patients who took them lost more weight than those who didn't.

The ones I take are Very small and only call for one per day.

Yes! That's the short answer I had the same experience, and took a couple days for it to go out of my system. Dr. confirmed maybe the dose of the probiotics triggered it. Apparently you can get levels of a few million to the 1 billion, I took. My dr. suggested I try it again with a lower level, but I have not gone back on. I don't have any bowel problems, so didn't feel it was critical.

I googled the subject and found the post that I think Julie was talking about. It included an article from a doctor from Stanford. I'll be buying me some probiotics tomorrow.
