Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
I have to say, the day I walked into the surgery center I knew that was it for me, no more sweets probably forever. You have to get your mind set and stick with it. Put your eyes on the prize and don't lose site of it. You will feel so much better, look so much better and be so much more healthier!!!
Your hubby is probably totally scared, but being as supportive as he can. What a great guy! Kind of like mine.
After the surgery you will be better, you aren't hungry! you have to concentrate on getting all your protein and water each day and you can't eat very much so there is no room for extra.
You'll be fine, but go ahead and cry-get it out and then move on and get ready for that surgery!!!!
I'm here if ya need me, just let me know =)
Jealous of the hub, mine just can't quite get it. I think he wants to, but I would have to give him step by step instructions. Lol.
Becky, good point! We need to stay vigilant or the food monster could creep back in.... :)
TODAY I have a handle on this thing.... And am going to ALL DAY LONG! (dang it!)
You can do this Becca... You are so prepared and you have so many people supporting you and here to help you through this process....
I have the utmost faith in you, and look so forward to reading all your success stories... Only two weeks to go my friend....
The pre-op food monster got me too. I ate anything I thought I would miss. I don't know if that is why, but the liquid pre-op diet did not bother me. So far, the post hasn't been too bad either. I had a VERY busy weekend and did not give in to the urge to eat some cheese off a pizza my grands were having. Small victory there! But I KNOW it will be tempting again. I just hope I can beat the monster back like you have! With the help of the people on here, I think we can all do it! Stay strong!
I know that a few months after the surgery when the head hunger and the real hunger starts to return we are going to continue needing to be strong. Hopefully when that times comes we will find the tools to get through them!
Congratulations on getting your surgery date BTW - I'm jealous! I just finally got an appointment for a consultation with my surgeon.
you have been and continue to be such an inspiration to me.... You are such a blessing to so many... this entry read as a novel of sorts... hitting the nail on the head how our relationship with food had became the devil pretending to be our friend where in fact its attempt has been to destroy us.. and it almost won... but by the grace of God we are being given a tool.. and a WONDERFUL online community to fight it... and God knows it is a battle... You are going to do wonderful... no doubt in my mind... You will have your ups and downs but you are prepared... knowledgeable.. and so very determined...I too can't wait to follow your "success" stories... !!!!
Saying goodbye to the old friend, food, is very hard. But you are right....we don't need that anymore. It harms us.
Good stuff.
I am soooo happy that you got your date! I am still waiting on my call for my surgery date. It should come any day now.
I feel the same way about loosing a friend, even tho it was not good for me I could always turn to it. I understand and I also know that you are ready for this girl.....you have done the work and I know, without a doubt, you will be a success.
I start my liquid diet next Wednesday.... I have two protein shakes then a light dinner the first 5 days, then clear liquid the last 2 :) So not as bad as some!
