I have not posted in a while but wanted to give everyone an update on my journey. I have been doing well. Went on my first trip out of town two weeks ago. Went to MI by myself and had a great time. I hiked 2 miles into a lighthouse, climbed 137 steps to the top, and hiked 2 miles out on the beach! The same day I walked around the town twice. So that day, I probably walked 5-6 miles. And wasn't too tired or sore. Yay me!
This past weekend I had a family reunion. Lots of mixed reactions to me having the surgery. Mostly good. But a cousin's wife had "some kind of surgery a couple years ago that was new and insurance did not pay for" and is now living "on Starbucks and ho-hos." They said she is bigger than ever. Most were proud of my progress and thrilled with how it has helped my diabetes.
I have hit onederland!! That hasn't happened in about 30 years. My surgeon's first goal for me was a BMI of 30. I think I am there. Now for the next goal of a BMI of 25. I am 3.5 months out and have lost 60 lbs! I am at my pulmonologist's office now. Hoping to lose another medicine. Will let you know!
Anyone wondering if it is worth it, all I can say is that for me, the answer is an emphatic YES!
