This afternoon I'm at the grocery store with my hubby and 17 yr old son... They get some pizzas.... and ice cream....

I have made it clear I don't want to live my life in a bubble "protected" from "those" foods the rest of my life and that they can buy and eat whatever they want...

And the majority of the time I could care less...

Today it was bugging me... I was feeling left out... I wanted ice cream and pizza! And I was grieving for lost times...

THEN I caught my reflection in the glass door... of me in my much smaller jeans and top..... and thought "Let them eat cake!" (or whatever!).... I am just fine with my decisions and choices! :)

I walked away.... with a big fat smile on my face! :)

Hey Becca,

I know what you mean. It is no fair to everyone else that they can't have whatever foods they want just because I am on a restrictive diet. The real world is full of cake and ice cream and linguini alfredo. So I go one step further. I still cook for everyone what I normally used to. And I get the pleasure of working with the food. The smell, small tastes. The general enjoyment of cooking good food. And then I eat my own things, or modified versions of what I cook for them. It helps me not being able to eat things like that any more.

I agree that they should not "suffer" because I am eating differently than they are. We will be exposed to all kinds of foods we can't have and will have to decide minute by minute how we will deal with it. You did a GREAT job!! Keep it up!

someday you will be able to enjoy a slice of that pizza. I have learned a small slice is okI fill up on salad for the rest of the mealI make it work in the calorie balance book.we will be doing this for the rest of our lives, I intend to learn how to enjoy small indulgence and learn to make it truly a reward. Good work finding your strength today.

Very occasionally, I feel 'left out', but then i kick myself back into the game and i'm good ;-)

I love it! That's great Becca! You are doing so great! I hope to do that well. I am now really just starting to notice physical changes and it does feel good!
