Okay guys, at my 6wk post op checkup the dr told me to add chewable calcium to my diet.
He wanted me add at least 600mg's a day. I advised him that I though the constipation contributes to me being so tired. He advise me to pick up some chewable calcium via citrucel.
I purchased the box from walgreens, and the chewables are chocolate. They contain 600mgs of calcium with some fiber. Since I have been taking the calcium supplements with fiber, the daily/several day constipation has gone away, and I am not tired anymore. Before I felt really tired being sever weeks postop, but not anymore.
The citrucel has a small amt of fiber in it, and ithelps tremendously with no more constipation, and it does not effect your stomach or cause excess gas. Please pick some up, and you will see a noticeable change and difference in your well being. Just wanted to share the info.
Ps, I was previously drinking plenty of water, and still had a problem with constipation.

I was told to take stool softeners a few times per week in order to help prevent constipation. I had a problem having a movement before the surgery and it is even harder now. The stool softeners help with that..

Calcium can definitely contribute to constipation. Calcium + D + magnesium combo is supposed to help alleviate this problem as well.

Just make sure it's calcium citrate when you're taking it! That's what's stressed to me more then anything! I've had it drilled into me so much I have it by memory now. LOL. I got some great tasting ones online that are very easy to take cuz they taste good. I'm still ironing out my schedule on taking it cuz it has to be taken alone so that iron doesn't interfere with the absorbtion of the calcium. I take Miralax for constipation problems. It's safer then most other remedies (outside of fiber) as it just draws fluid into the stools and it works pretty fast and works well. Now I can take it once or twice a week and it does the trick and I feel better. Good luck to you on your journey!

Guys, I have been keeping my gummi bears childrens vitamins, which I take 2 a day, and the calcium (citruicel) chewables in my desk at work. When I get there in the am, i usually start my round of meds, biotin 2500mg, then chewable citrucel (calcium), gummie bears vitamins, b12 1000mg. I have also tried the viative chewable, but i enjoy the citrucel more due to the fact it has fiber in it. I purchase it in walgreens pharmacy. Even the food store carries the citrucel (its in an orange & white box. Taste just like a caramel chew candy.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
