Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
While you are sitting, you can be doing arm circles or leg lifts. Any movement will burn some calories. Accept that this is a long process and it WILL take time. Just keep your eye on the prize.
Go on a low carb high protein diet watching fats and calories. I agree with the swimming and water aerobics!
You can do this!

I struggled with the should I or shouldn't I too. My mom had the surgery 2 years ago. I watched her go through the surgery and then not follow any of the doctor's guidelines. I worried about doing that as well. It's a personal decision for everyone and you have to reach it in your own time/way. It's a lot of work and a big commitment. Don't believe anyone that says, "it's the easy way out"! For me, the decision was clear when my AIC came back and they officially diagnosed me with diabetes. I have 3 children and a wonderful husband. I want to be around for them, my grandchildren, and my great-grandchildren :)
Best wishes! Regardless of your decision on the surgery, I hope that you're able to get some help/relief for that knee pain!
