I was able to get my psych eval scheduled for Monday. The surgeon's office gave me a list and I called one person several times and never got a return call, so I went to someone else on the list got through to him on the first try and he can see me on Monday. Here it turns out he is the same therapist that saw my daughter two years ago. When she was in 9th grade her school had tragic death of a boy followed by 4 suicides in a mater of 4 months. My daughter was a wreck as were most of the kids. So I took her to someone she could talk to about it and he was very helpful. I am hoping he is as nice for me LOL.

Anyone who has had their eval -- what can I expect?

Piece 'o cake...er...never mind. Anyway, I had to complete a multiple choice, fill in the circle with a pencil kind of questionnaire. It had about 300 questions. Then, I talked with a counselor for about 30 minutes about my weight issues, how I thought I would do after the surgery with the changes I's be making and what kind of support I had at home like family and friends. The last 5 minutes or so I chatted with the psychologist and answered a few questions from him. That was all. No biggie.

I was scared to death of the psych evaluation! I even googled it to find out what kinds of questions I could expect. My visit with the psychologist was very pleasant. We talked about my struggle with my weight and how I have dealt with stress throughout my life. He was very supportive. Good luck!!

My pshyc eval was really simple. as Spotz it was a 360 multiple choice fill in blank circle and i talked with the pshyc for about 30 minutes as well.

Some of the questions are repetative just worded differently just to see if you will give same answer. :)

You will be fine don't stress over this.

My eval was a joke in my opinion. The psychologist wanted to make sure I was not a drug addict or had any alcohol addiction. She talked about why I wanted the surgery and kept it very lite and simple. I did have a form to fill out, but not to intensive. Basic questions about my mood. I think my psychologist just wanted to make sure I knew that there is a risk of becoming an alcoholic or switching addictions from food to something else. She also wanted to make sure I was not going into this with false expectations. She was very nice, but did not check to see if I had any severe mental issue that would create problems later on. Not that I did, but I thought it was interesting that she did not probe into why I had gained the weight in the first place etc. and how I would deal with the emotional aspect of the weight loss. Anyway, pretty simple. Just try and stay composed and honest. You will do fine. It is pretty standard and basic.

I had mine and it was very easy. I didn't have any questionnaires, but we talked for about an hour about my weight history and support system. Pretty easy! Good luck.

I have mine in 5 days. Then I see the Dr 2 weeks after that because they say thats how long it takes for the psych eval to get to the Dr. Hope everything went well. Spotz piece o cake haha

Mine just asked a lot of questions like why do you think that I've been heavy all my life and what steps have I taken at this time to change my eating habits to aid in showing signs that I am ready to change my self (such as diet and exercise now). Mine was easier than I thought and he told me at the end of the meeting that he was approving me for surgery and felt strong that I will do good because I had a confident attitude when I was talking to him. Good luck...you will do fine.
