So, I posted a few weeks ago about my incredibly chapped and sore lips, and admitted that I had not been doing really well on my food and water intake at that period. Well, I was also not taking my vitamins as I should ... so let this be a warning to all of you who are pre-op and post-op.
TAKE YOUR VITAMINS. NO JOKE. Our surgeons tell us, thier PA's tell us, our NUT's tell us, the women at the front desk tell us, our general practitioners tell us, our momma's ask about it every day... All of these people have told me continuously, but I was doing so well with my levels and weight loss and my food plan that I allowed myself to slack off. Lets admit it - the vitamins can be a pain in ass and they all smell so bad and they dont taste so good either - but just because your levels look good one month doesnt mean you get a pass on your vitamin intake.
I learned the hard way. My chapped, bleeding, sore, dry lips that wouldnt heal ... a pretty bad vitamin B12 deficiency. One that is being treated for two weeks with additional doses of B12 and a very expensive medicated cream for my poor lips... then we recheck my levels. If they havent recovered, its B12 shots for me.

I'm glad to hear that you have an answer to your problem, and that it is easily fixable. Not all vitamin deficiency problems can be fixed once they occur, so that this as a serious warning. NEVER short change your vitamin supplementation!

Lol. I am being punished for being a bad person in a previous life. Dear Lord, I have learned my lesson. I am going to take my nighttime vitamins now!
