Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
There was one woman in particular that really got my dander up and squandered her opportunities, while her husband took care of her. I guess I've just worked so hard on sticking to every word the doctors, and the advisors say that it makes me nervous that I could be like that. I'm so scared to fall into bad habits.
Anyway - I just don't get how after surgery they can physically eat enough to gain weight. How do they get enough portion size in them to do that? Or maybe it's just that they eat carbs?
Anyway - great show. Wonderful doctor - his successes are amazing makeovers.
Yes, that's the one - I think what got me the most besides her making the family meal in her nasty bed (yukko) was when the doctor seeing that she was only gaining weight and missing her appointments sent the nutritionist over to the house. Wouldn't we all like that treatment.
Anyway, the nutritionist was going over the food in the refrigerator and cabinets with the husband, and she had her young child with her telling him that the lady "wanted to take his cereal away". What a horrible thing to do to that child.
I have compassion for anyone who is disabled, but do not tell me "you'd do anything for your kid" while you're making meatloaf and food that isn't on your diet from your bed.
Its very disturbing how the families' enabling continues, despite
the health of these people.
Its not unlike people with drug addictions....there are so many
people with true food addictions. Its very sad....
I came out of the bedroom and into the living room where he was watching it and he said, "Mom! Don't look!" But I did and they had this woman who I *think* was having surgery to remove skin and they were stapling her back? OMG! That scared the living crap out of me!
I'm always so happy for people who are READY for this surgery. I know I was and I look forward to the rest of my life! I did the treadmill today 1.5 miles, 30 min, 240 calories burned! Then I did 60 minutes of sit and stretch and burned another 337 calories! I'll be 3 weeks post op tomorrow.
