B12 sublingual and time.. do your best to get your protein and water in, walk as much as you are able, and rest when you are tired. Sleep will help with the healing process, and the more you are healed the better you will feel. :) Welcome home, I'm glad you're alright now.

yay.. congrats on making it home..........and yes.. a few weeks of sleep...... enjoy those pain meds because even if you had more energy your incisions and minor pains would hold you back.....
you will be active before you know.. heal well...

Listen to what everyone is saying here. It takes time to heal. You just put your body through a major trauma. Sleep is good for you. Sleep or rest and take good care of yourself. It may be several weeks before you have more energy. Be patient. :)

Haha, omg I can relate. I don't even remember my first 2 weeks home because I was on heavy pain killers and sleeping like 18hrs a day. I needed it though, my body healed up really well because of it. Walk when you can, as much as you can, but don't beat yourself up if you are exhausted, because your body took a beating. Good luck and please let us know how things progress! ~Sheila

I missed you, welcome back Mike! As I recall you had a substantial blood loss? Rebuilding red blood cells takes time, and until that happens you will feel pooped. Alternate rest with walking, make sure you're taking your B vitamins and a good chewable or liquid iron. (ferrous sulfate is not well absorbed. Ferrous glutamate is absorbed more readily.) I had a large blood loss and dragged my ass for 2 months before I found an iron supplement my pouch would tolerate & absorb. I started using Nature's Gate high potency chewable iron about 5-6 weeks ago and my hematocrite is finally creeping back up into it's normal range. Take it easy and give yourself time to heal. And Mike, so happy to have you on the loser's bench!

Hey Mike, I was a bit worried about you as we all were on here. Now you should be able to really get some rest. I had a hard time getting comfortable at first trying to sleep on my left side. I ended up using about three pillows to prop me up off the left part of my upper side, and my husband also propped up the head of the bed a bit which did help me quite a bit. Before that was done, I couldn't get comfortable with the pain from surgery in the upper stomach area from the pressure of my weight on it while lying down. Do not attempt to lift anything yourself(not even a little to even help on anything). That could undo your surgery and really harm you in the process. But if you have this trouble trying to get comfortable in the bed and it is because of the pressure on the new surgery, see if Laurie could manage propping up the head part with srtong books or blocks of wood. DO NOT ATTEMPT IT YOURSELF! I hope you can rest well and get back to your self with renewed strength. Glad you are home Mike.

Glad you're home Mike. Really try to pamper your body now. Just feed it all the protein it needs and also stay hydrated. If you have any trouble trying to lay down in the bed and remain comfortable. Try sleeping on several pillows to prop you up and take the pressure off your surgery in the upper part of your chest. I did that and my husband propped up the head of the bed under the feet.( But do not try lifting anything whatsoever.) Maybe Laurie could help with propping up the head of the bed for you if it turns out that helps. Strong big blocks of wood or strong books would work to prop it up. I hope you can rest comfortably on your own. Take it easy and glad you are home Mike.

Hi Mike, glad to hear your home. It has been 2 weeks out for me and still have no energy it is getting better just give it time..

At this point you want to make sure your getting your liquids, walk to get things moving and rest. It is normal to feel tired.

Glad you are home and able to post but at this time get all the rest you can, your body has been thru an ordeal. It will all come back in time.
