I am new here, I am in the very early stages of the WLS process. I actually met with the surgeon today to discuss a hernia that I have and how that will affect my WLS options. I got very good news, the hernia can be reparied at the same time at the WLS! That is the answer I was hoping that I was going to get.
So I am now officially starting the pre op process. I have my first appointment with the bariatric nutritionist on Friday and my bariatric consult with the surgeon on June 11. I was already told by the practice manager who did the WL seminar that I was required to go to before I did anything, that I am going to need to loose or try to loose about 45 pounds prior to surgery. I weighed in today at 345.5 which is pretty much the weight I thought I was. I am 5 foot 4 inches so my BMI is around 60.
I am very excited to actually have the process starting!! I know my insurance covers everything but I don't know if they have a certain time I have to wait. I am hoping it is not 6 months.

I had surgery on Dec 19 and was prepared for the "things to come" during the healing process... I received hugs, encouragement, and kicks in the butt when I really needed them most.
We celebrate the ups, the downs and get through the stalls and constipation together... No topic is OFF TOPIC and no one will understand you like someone that has gone through WLS themselves.
To me, this group is indespensible (spelling?) and has been a huge catalyst to my success.
I can't wait to share this journey with you!!!
