When I was at support group they were talking about this and we were told to put our surgeon's name and number on it. I am allergic to aspirin and NSAIDS so i definitely can't have them. Good information, glad I found it.

My son is attending EMT training. He stressed I get one and to make it look like a medical bracelet with the long thin bar. Leave off the fancy beading that blends in with all the other bracelets us gals wear. They know they're required to look from head to toe for these to include ankle braclelets but if its a charm it could be missed! I got mine already. It a nice bracelet that looks like a tennis bracelet but has the medical symbol in Black to match the silver bracelet. It reads. RNY 6/12 NO Blind tubes NO Nsaids No Sugar and the phone to my Bariatric surgeons office. My card in my wallet and my husbands business card are visible and my phone has ICE and hubbys number, Drs offices and my grown children. I searched the web after I found the bracelet I wanted for a discount coupon and ended up spending 65.00....Its feminine and I love it!!

I believe all of us need to carry a medical alert card in our wallets!!!

I can't take NSAIDS just because of this surgery but because of my thyroid disease. No OTC products...A lot of folks don"t know all the do's and don't for every ailment...

I ordered a medical alert plate thing from laurens hope and went into a bead store and made my own bracelet. The medical alert part says gastric sleeve with date, no blind ng tube. I now wish I did an extra line with no nsaids.

What is the -no blind ng tube mean?

The one I have my eye on at laruenshope.com has small pink and silver beads and the medical alert part is pretty big with the red cross on it, I don't normally wear much jewelry especially bracelets so I think it would stand out pretty good.

Even though I have my surgery date of 9/12 I am going to wait until a little closer to order it just in case my surgery date is changes for whatever reason.

NGT = nasogastric tube, which is a tube passed through the nose, down the throat, into the stomach, usually to clear stomach contents. Generally the tube is placed "blindly" (IE: no radiology imaging), after the nurse/MD does a simple measurement using anatomical landmarks. This works well for just about everyone - except our anatomy no longer matches up with the landmarks :) After GBS NG tubes should only be placed with imaging to assist.

my bracelet is stainless steel, it has a nice link design that looks like a Silpada Sterling Silver bracelet. Then an ID engraveable oval with the black medical symbol. No Blind NG Tube, No NSAIDS, 11/18/11

I stack many bracelets together on one arm. You may be able to see it in one of my after photos. My friends who are nurses comment that it is easy to see even with other bracelets. I use the mens stainless steel bracelets often found at TJ maxx, because they are durable, and you can shower with them on and they don't turn color. Have fun making your stack. Oh, and they are much more affordable that womens bracelets.

Facebook showed me an ad for survival bracelets or survival gear. Anyway they had a medical alert key chain that you can have engraved. I just ordered it figuring that would be a discreet way to have my info available. I found a coupon online too for free shipping. I paid $20.
