What do you put on your medical alert bracelet? I know it was suggested to put "no NG tube" but what else? I found some cute ones and I want to order one.

where did you find them? and is the NG tube becuase of the pouch?? i haven't had mine yet. I have a bracelet due to alleriges of meds and foods and my illnesses. But what i have found most benefical to me is to carry a copy of my medical record and my allergies etc on a usb drive around my neck most of the time or in my purse.

Will be looking forward to the answers to the question.

Yes the NG tube is because of the pouch. That is one of the first things they told us in our pre-op class. They said in case you have to go to a different hospital than where you had your surgery tell them no NG tube.

I've read to put:

Gastric Bypass PT
No Blind NG TUBE (or depending on how much space is available: NG TUBE W/SCOPE)
No NSAID, Sugar

And funny enough, I just ordered one tonight. Since I'm alone most of time now, I'm a little paranoid about something happening and not receiving appropriate care.

Cherly that is beautiful. I looked through that website also :) thanks for sharing. I have one that opens and there is a piece of paper inside of it for all information to be on but not fancy like those. I might have to get something different :)

I got one from a company called Road ID. They are on line and they have an interactive ID system. you can load all of your conditions and then first responders have all of your info. it was easy to do too. They are at roadid.com.

Waste of money to get a medical bracelet. You don't get an NG tube, sugar, NSAIDs ect during an emergency. And really, during an emergency (lets say you were having a heart attack) and the ems person said to take an aspirin... take the F-ing aspirin! ONE asprin can save your life and will not cause an ulcer.

Wow Nurse39 little abrupt. I understand what you are saying also but what if someone was truley allergic to that aspirin. U know more than just GBP goes on one. I know for me personally it has saved my life in the past especially if it is visable.

I wouldn't discourage anyone from having one if its what makes them feel more comfortable.

I meant that getting a medical alert bracelet JUST for gastric bypass is a waste of money. Of course there are good reasons to have one. This is also just my opinion.

No Blind NG Tube
No NSAIDS/NO SUGARS
Surgeon name and phone number
