Mashed potatoes

We were told not to eat them because of the lack of nutrition. Are any of you allowed to eat them?

I was allowed to eat them when I was on the pureed/soft food stage and it was difficult to get anything else in. I haven't included them much in my menus since moving to solid foods. They just don't have the appeal that they used to have!

week 3 I WAS ALLOWED TO EAT THEM, NO NUTRITION BUT AT THIS POINT YOU GOTTA EAT SOMETHING....

White potatoes actually have a higher GI than sugar does! So it's really not a very good choice for us.

My plan also allows them for the first month when eating is difficult, but I don't plan to try them.

Hi! I only eat two spoonsfull of mashed potatoes. They are too heavy and I get full very easily.

I was told by my nut to eat more mashed potatoes to avoid going into ketosis. I'm diabetic and thought this advice was absurd, so I really limit my potato intake.

Could you add some unflavored protein powder into them to make then more worth while?

I was allowed to eat them during the pureed/soft stage. I mixed in unflavored protein powder to give them some nutrional value. Some times during the soft stage it was the only thing that did it for me. Now at over 1 year out I really stay away from the carbs an potatoes /rice/ noodles are a treat for me. Try adding the unflavored protein powder. It really helps.

Yes, I got the instant mashed potatoes in small packages and only ate about 2 tablespoons at a time mixed with hot water. That worked best for me. I also ate baked yams. The real kind with butter buds. Sweet potatoes are very nutritious and filling. They really help satisfy the sweet tooth. Also sugar free chocolate pudding is great too. Weight Watchers fudge sickles are good too.

I didn't eat them during my weight loss phase. When I needed to stop losing, I allowed myself to eat a little alongside pure protein (steak, chicken, etc) no more than a couple times a week. I primarily use them to give moisture to the meat (but am careful to eat at least 3 x more protein than potatoes). They are pretty much just empty calories, so I don't recommend them unless you are trying to stop losing.
