Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you cant keep your blood sugar stable by eating several protein-rich meals a day, you need to talk to your surgeon about it. Some people develop reactive hypoglycemia after GBS.

In the event of low blood sugar, eating white refined sugar is not the best choice. While you check your glucose levels, we use dextrose to treat low results. The tablets are your best choice, liquid is next (like the cake decorating icing).
Krista, yes, eating regularly (and always making sure you have protein before carbs) should keep your levels steady. Good luck!! You've done great!!
