Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
I have not had a gastric bypass yet. My date is set for mid-November. I have people around me that have had the bypass and one of them has started drinking soda again. They are regretting it and are trying to quit the soda again. Slip ups happen, no one is perfect, but we have to keep pushing through!
I am sorry to hear that you have had dizzy spells and are unaware of what are causing them. I wish you my best!
I will pray for a quick and easy resolution to your current medical situation. I too have had enough doctor appointments to last a lifetime.
You taking the time to post about it on here it gives me encouragement. Not only your success, but your openness during times of struggle. I have no doubt you will be healthy and happy very soon.
Regarding your dizzy spells... have they checked your blood sugar? It isn't uncommon for people to develop reactive hypoglycemia and you mentioned you have let some foods with no nutritional value back in (which are usually carbs). It is important for us to include protein every time we eat (3 bites of protein for 1 bite of anything else).

I second having your blood sugars checked. Things can get wonky once we've been obese, and if our bodies still react goofy, it gets exaggerated when there's less body to handle the reaction.
Good luck and thanks again.
One step at a time. Th good news is they didn't see anything that made them admit you to the hospital right away.
I hope the next appointment gives you a solution and that you feel better very soon.

I have to back in for a TEE echo-cardiogram (an internal ultrasound) so that he can get a better view of my heart and see what is causing the blood "backflow" that they picked up on the test last week. Depends what he finds it could be absolutely nothing to worry about or it could be serious (no middle ground).
It will be silly after all these tests to figure out the cure for my getting dizzy/fainting is eat more salt. But, that is better than another surgery! We'll see how it turns out.
In the meantime, salt always tastes good on meat, fish, in mashed cauliflower, on eggs. One of my favorite salty treats is steamed edamame (soy bean) pods. They come in bags you can throw in the microwave, then top with coarse sea salt. You kind of squeeze and strip the beans out of the pods with your teeth, licking the salt as you go, and they're delicious!
