Wouldn't change this for the world. Has a been so amazing.
I had my surgery on June 5, 2012 RNY
I weighed 244 and 9 months later I am currently 142. I have lost 102 pounds and I am 5'6. I went from a size 18 and am currently a size 6. I am not dropping my weight as quickly as I use to but I am still losing. I would do it again in a heart beat. I feel amazing! I only wish I did it sooner.
5'4" top weight 228
Today at my post-op appt wt. 175!!
Loss of 53lbs in 10 wks!!
Already lost 45% of my excess weight
Wouldn't change this decision for the world!
So much energy, down 4 sizes, had enough self esteem to find a new job after 13 yrs
At 54 I feel like I'm starting life over :)
Def NOT the easy way out!!
But worth every psychotic breakdown, lol
( Can laugh about it now)
I am so grateful for this post!!! It took me several months before I would post my weight... I was so ashamed... but you all are making me understand it simply doesn't matter... what matters is we're doing great things for ourselves...
I have a whole lot more things than just pounds lost to be grateful for as I think all of us have. I can soar like an eagle... well okay.. that's a bit of an exaggeration... LOL I'm swimming to help my weight loss... I tell folks I may still be somewhat of a whate... but I'm a graceful whale in the water... Love to swim.
I am learning so many things in this journey. I am hungry quite often but I fight it. I thankfully can't eat like I used to not that I want to... but ouch... LOL I don't want fried foods, or sugars... yech... I truly believe I have changed my eating habits for life.
I no longer take the fast acting insulin (apidra) at all and my long term insuline (lantus) is less than half what I was taking before the surgery and more likely than not will be cut more as I have had to cut it in the last month as I have had some low sugar episodes. One morning it was rough... I went from 106 to 48 in like 20 minutes... That was a bit scary.
I am not losing at the rate I was to begin with and I have been somewhat discouraged... I needed to increase my activity though so hey... I needed a motivator.
Sometimes I get frustrated... I wanted to just keep melting... melting... melting... Oh you wretched girl... LOL but yes I am so very glad I had this surgery. I'm also grateful for you all. Hugs Elissa
I had RNY on 7/11/12. A modest complication at the largest incision, but it healed with packing and never got infected.
Highest weight 265. Surgery weight 255.
I've lost 65 pounds and 5 sizes so far. I'm slow but steady.
I have 55 pounds more to meet my personal goal.
I plan to be there by 12/31/2013.
I've already met my health goals - normal blood pressure and no longer in pre-diabetes range. Improved asthma. Able to workout as hard and as long as I want!
I have gastric bypass on Sept 17th, 2012 and have lost 103 lbs. I feel I should have lost more by now but had a long plateau. I am just happy that I started losing again. I have no regrets. debby
It is great reading everyone success stories and where they started at. I know that I see some of you with the same starting weight as me and it gives me hope that by following the directions by the DR, I can achieve that success too.
I love reading them keep them coming!
I am very happy with my decision and no regrets! All my labs have come back normal at 1 month, 3 month & 6 months post op.
Just wish I would have done this before I was 48 years old!
