Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
Taking control of your weight/health by having GBS is something to be proud of, not ashamed of. You did the research and chose to commit to a permanent change in your life. We dont get to go off the changes we had to make whenever a special event comes along (lots of people drop their diet when they are on vacation or have a birthdayalthough we may stray a bit from our programs during these times, we cant just start eating large amounts of food or stop chewing thoroughly, etc). GBS is serious business and is very scary. You (we) were willing to push through the fear to grab life on the other side.
Hold your head high, confident in who you are and why you did what you did!

It's just me and the baby up here with mom now - DH and the other two kiddos are coming in friday after school. It's so much more quite when they are not around.
i sleep on the couch in the living room, for a year my dad slept in a hospital bed in the family room. You know how you can feel a person being in the same space as you - it's just strange not feeling that. when i came up on friday DH was with me and we slept on the air mattress, plus i was so tired i just fell right to sleep and didn't really think about it.
Please be sure to think about your physical needs and nourish your body properly -- you need to keep your strength up, physically and emotionally.
Your rambling was spot-on. We've all had many of the same thoughts -- it's all part of a psychological effect from the weight loss. We're all changing physically, and our emotions are having a difficult time coping -- it's not much different from an actual grieving process -- losing the person who used to hide under all the fat and opening ourselves up to a new, bolder, more confident being. Every day of this journey will bring you closer to understanding the new you, and in the meantime, don't worry about what others say about you or expect out of you. Be true to yourself, take care of your body, and life will be good for you.
Again, I'm so sorry for your loss -- he sounds like he was a very special father.

I will repeat,,,, I am soo sorry for your loss. I understand, I felt lost and disconnected when my daddy went to heaven 23 yrs ago. hugggz
and I feel the same as everyone else. The surgery is not a cop out. It is a tool. It is a decision you made for a healthier lifestyle. Be proud of your decision.
Take care of yourself. Choose to eat wisely. Get enough rest!
