Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. I feel the same as you in some of your points you made.
Ine day at a time....
I'm sorry to hear about your dad. I'm sure he was proud of you always.
On the other hand I know It wasn't a cop out it was a life saving decision. It was a hard decision, and if someone were to say I took the easy way out I would be mad. LOL I think sometimes I just want to be mad.
I too get tired of people asking how much I have lost. But then if they didn't ask I kind of think ," oh so you don't really care" . So again I do believe it is a thing I need to work on.

Having the surgery is so NOT a cop out. I, for one, have worked VERY hard, even with the surgery, to get to where I am today, and I continue to work hard at it each and every day.
It isn't cheating or the 'easy way out' like everyone thinks. For some it's smooth sailing, and for others its an extremely rocky road. For me it was a little of both.
Hang in there and take care of yourself. Good luck.

You should be so proud of yourself for making the decision you did to get surgery to lose weight and actually losing it. This is not an easy way out. You are still in control of what you eat, and the exercise you do... the lifestyle changes.
Love yourself, treat yourself tenderly. Remember the good things about your dad, continue to do the things that got you to this point in your weightloss journey.
Sending good thoughts to you and your family. Best of luck to you.
And thanks for sharing the feelings and emotions that a lot of us feel. Sometimes this journey is very hard to mentally understand and accept.
Dad was there on the day of my surgery. it meant so much that he and my mom made the difficult travel to come. Dad had been slowly declining for a year ans was wheelchair bound.
We all deal with so many issues. And for years we always turned to food to deal. I have actually thought about eating salty junk this week. it's been a passing thought so i haven't fell off plan.
but anyway - thanks again for the prayers and support. Getting in the car now to head up to Mom's
take one day at a time.
Be strong and get through one or two hours at a time. Make little achievable goals and you will be fine.
GBS is a tool that works differently for everyone that decides to have the surgery; for some it is a relatively easy process (that was my experience), for others it's a daily, even moment to moment struggle).
It is the start of a life long journey.
You are so right in not wanting to dwell on "the surgery" etc. As my Dad used to say, hang on and enjoy the ride of life!!
So, in tribute to my Dad, I made the decision to enjoy my life journey; the ups and downs, struggles and victories, learn from my mistakes and from my correct choices.
When people comment on my weight loss, I sometimes get sad (but just for a moment) because I wish with all my heart that my parents could have experienced my success with me.
After speaking with others I realize that my feelings, which are so similar to yours, are a part of the whole grieving process.
Take care of yourself, be proud of yourself, and most importantly, love youself.
About discussions re your weight loss - you don't owe anyone an explanation. Tell what you want to and leave the rest for a better time
About"rambling" - lots of folks do it. And this is a good place to vent and get those feelings out.
