Well it took me a while to decide if GBS was for me but on October 27th I did it.

The op went fine, they didn't have to open me up, just make a few small slits in my belly.

Great, good start.

I stayed in the hospital an extra day because the pain wasn't under control.

Got home Thursday.

Friday back in the hospital with suspected blood clot. Given the all clear.

Legs swollen like balloons and going numb but they said that was just fluid from the IV's moving about.

Home again.

Tuesday agonizing pain.

I honestly thought my insicions had given way.

Back to Hospital for a CT scan.

It seems I have either fluid or dried blood trapped in my fat layer near an insicion.

Seems my fat hates me as much as I hate it.

Now I have to wait until my body clears this away in it's own good time.

So I'm almost 2 weeks post op and I weighed myself this morning.

I've lost 3 pounds. THREE BLOODY SODDING POUNDS!

Are we having fun yet?

ouch i wish everyone's situation could go smoothly, so consider this a rough start to a much easier road ahead of yourself one where you will be losing weight faster than you ever have in your life, so much lighter that your knees and back will feel so much relief from not carrying around all that extra weight and you will have the pleasure and pain of seeing clothing fall off of your body (the pain) is the new stuff you buy only to wear once. I see good things for you, be patient it is worth it. Take care.

Sounds like you're still full of the fluids they gave you in the hospital. Once you start peeing it all out, the weight will come off. Don't worry.

I can sort of relate in that my weight loss the first two weeks, I GAINED! I was mortified. Come to find out it was my lymphedema causing me problems and I was told to go back to my leg wraps again (my greatest fear sometimes), but I waited a few days and all of a sudden the fluid went down on its own and I lost like 30 some pounds in the next month after that. So you're not alone at all! I really feel for you! But this will resolve itself and you'll lose more once it does. It's hard to be patient cuz we've been waiting so long for the tool of surgery. I know telling you to be patient, well, that's hard for you cuz it's you feeling all these emotions and recovering from the surgery itself is difficult to a degree, and then the problems you've had since surgery, it makes it hard. But I promise you, the weight will keep coming off! Just hang on tight for the ride! ((hugs))

Yes it sounds like water gain from the surgery and IV's. You will have that off in no time.

I know this may not make you feel better but think about it!! Your legs are swollen with fluids and now you have fliud near one of your insicions and you still lost 3 pounds!! That is great try to imagine how much fat you probably have already lost and once the swelling goes down you are going to be amazed!! I just figured you are already doing great if you are down 3 pounds and have all that extra fliud!!! Try to keep your chin up you!! And I am sorry you have to go through all this!!!

Patience, my dear, patience. You are just out of the gate. Give yourself time to heal from MAJOR SURGERY and being blown up with bags and bags of IV fluids. Everything comes out in the end!!! Try to move around as much as you can. This will encourage the fluids to leave your body. Even if it's just walking a bit around the house or around the outside of the house. I promise it will get better!! :-)

I'm sorry that you had such a difficult time. I had some complications, also. When I came home from the hospital, I weighed 17 lbs more than when I went in. It was all fluid and eventually my kidneys did their job and excreted it. Now I am almost a year post-op and have lost 100+ lbs.
You will get through this and lose weight and be able to smile and be proud that you took an important step in improving your health.

I love your humour, make sure you keep it.
I'm so sorry you've had such a problematic start to your journey. But believe me, you'll be so happy you had it done in a couple of months time.
