I received a paper from my insurance yesterday (I got my insuance approval on Thursday) and this is what it says (sorry it's long!):
Inpatient Stay Initial Requst:
Start Date: December 31, 2011
End Date: December 31, 2011
Days: 1
Level of care: Acute
Inpatient Stay Initial Approval: December 31, 2011
Start Date: December 31, 2011
End Date: December 31, 2011
It goes on to say that If the date of the admission, surgery, or whatever changes to notify them in advance. It also says that the authorization of benefits only applies to care for the days referenced above.
So my question is....will this be my surgery date? I have not received my call to schedule my surgery yet though. My surgeon only does surgery on Fridays and the 31st just happens to be a Friday.
Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks :)

call your ins and MD tomorrow. I received much the same letter from my ins co. They only certified it as outpatient. I had a lap band but stayed over after my doctor saying yes. I needed hydration and pain meds. My husband was exhausted from working all week and getting up at 4 to take me. He would have been of no help Fri nite. They can always change you either to outpatient observation or inpatient based on medical necessity afterward. Don't worry!
